Planning Calendar

The Chicago Board of Education holds its monthly Agenda Review Standing Committee meeting on the second Thursday of each month and its monthly regular board meeting on the fourth Thursday of each month, unless otherwise indicated. Members of the public are welcome to present during the public participation portion of the meeting. Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) and Black Student Achievement Committee (BSAC) meetings are held alternatively on the third Thursday of each month, beginning in October 2026, unless otherwise noted.

Standing Committee meetings and Board meetings will be held at CPS Loop Office, 42 West Madison Street, Garden Level, Board Room and will begin at 10:30 a.m., unless otherwise noted. The Board President and the Chief Executive Officer have determined that registered speakers who wish to present during Public Participation may have the option to participate in person at the location of the Board meeting or virtually via an electronic platform. The public will have access to the meeting via live stream at www.cpsboe.org.

For Standing Committee(s) meetings, advance speaker registration will be open on the Tuesday preceding the Standing Committee(s) meetings at 10:30 a.m. and close Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Anyone interested in speaking can sign up. After the 24-hour registration period, a lottery will randomly select a set number of speakers from those who registered. For example, if 100 people register, the lottery will select 5 speakers for the available slots. This process gives everyone a fair chance to address the Committee. Advance observer registration will open on the Tuesday preceding the Standing Committee meeting at 10:30 AM and close on Wednesday at 5:00 PM, or until all observer slots are filled, unless otherwise noted. To ensure equity of access to address the Board, an individual may not speak at back-to-back meetings and more than one meeting per month.  If you register for back-to-back meetings and more than one meeting per month, you will not be included in that meeting lottery. In the event that an individual registers to speak at a consecutive meeting, the individual will not be called to address the Board.

The Public Participation segment of the meeting will begin following the Opening Statement for Standing Committee(s) meetings will proceed for no more than 5 registered speakers for 10 minutes. Registered speakers will receive instructions for accessing the in-person or electronic platform for Public Participation.

The Chicago Board of Education is committed to increased transparency and promoting additional opportunities for the public to provide their input at Standing Committee(s) meetings and Board of Education meetings. To this end, members of the public who wish to submit written comments for Standing Committee(s) and/or Board of Education meetings can do so via the Written Comments Form on the Board website at cpsboe.org. Written comments received between the posting of the public agenda and notice through 5 p.m. the day after the meeting will be submitted to Board Members for their consideration.

Further, let the official record reflect that the 2026-2027 Planning Calendar has been prepared in accordance with the Illinois Open Meetings Act and will be available for public distribution. With the transition to the Fully Elected School Board on January 15, 2027, the Standing meeting schedules for 2027 will be announced at a later date.
