Chicago Board of Education Announces Finance and Audit Committee Meeting
October 14, 2020
Dear CPS Community:
In the last decade, CPS has made remarkable progress towards financial stability, due in large part to state education reform and the advocacy of Chicago families, educators, community members, and city leaders. While CPS faces many challenges brought on by the pandemic, we remain committed to ensuring our students continue to learn and thrive, and to our Five-Year Vision goal of building a stronger financial future to better support our students and schools. With the support of families, innovative teachers and leaders, and our strong network of dedicated community partners, we aim for a plan to ensure ongoing and sustainable success.
One way the Board of Education Finance and Audit Committee hopes to build a stronger financial footing for CPS is to ensure we communicate clearly with the community about the district’s revenue and spending. When we all have a clear understanding of how the district sources and uses its financial resources, we can all be stronger allies for fair school funding.
We want to learn from you and ensure we create opportunities to ask questions about the budget. The meeting will be interactive and include an opportunity for public engagement during a Q&A. Please join us to learn more about where CPS gets its revenue, and how our money is spent.
